Cheated! Almost got caught!

My neighbour and I get on very well, but his wife is extremely jealous and hasn’t exactly been making life easy for him since I moved in next door. He works shifts and is therefore often at home when she’s at work, but even then he gets no peace, as he told me recently, because she’s constantly calling to check up on him. This morning the two of them had a proper row, and shortly afterwards my neighbour turned up at my door. He asked if he could pop in for a quick coffee – he just needed to get it off his chest! Apparently, she’s accusing him of having an affair with me. He then said that it didn’t really matter what we did, as she’d already assumed the worst anyway… Well, I’m not quite so sure about that, but he kept pestering me until I finally agreed. We’d only just finished when there was a bang on the front door! His wife was standing in the hallway, shouting at my door… Great, now he’ll have to climb out over the balcony and I’ll have to think about whether I should just pretend I’m not there...
