Cheated! Almost caught!

My neighbor and I get along very well, but his wife is extremely jealous and hasn't exactly made life easy for him since I moved in next door. He works shifts and is therefore often at home when she's at work, but even then he has no peace and quiet, he told me recently, because check-up calls are part of her daily routine. This morning the two of them had a proper argument and shortly afterwards my neighbor shows up at my door. I asked him if he could come in for a coffee, he just had to take a break! Apparently she accused him of having an affair with me. He then says that it doesn't really matter what we do, she already thinks the worst anyway... I'm not quite so sure, but he keeps talking to me until I finally agree. We've just finished when there's a bang on the front door! His wife is standing in the hallway and shouting at my door... Great, now he has to climb out via the balcony and I have to think about whether I might just pretend I'm not there...
